Growing..not in years or time, but in momentum and growth as a Christian. Each person of the Trinity active in our lives brings growth. Growth gains momentum through encouragement of our brothers and sisters in Christ. So lets us grow and grow together, in Grace, Faith, Love, in Jesus, in Friendships, in Mission, and in passion for people.

EVERYTHING Has Changed--Part 2

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. -- Isaiah 40:8

Last month, I wrote about all of the changes that have been happening. That has not stopped. My conclusion was that God does not change. That is still true.

I have to say, the change process has continued for just about everything else. Now we are at the point that our leaders are trying to re-open the world. Each governor is laying out a plan and timetable for things to open up again. They are reminding us of the process for staying socially distanced, sanitized, and SAFE. As I listen to the leaders and experts, I get a bit overwhelmed. A lot of contradictory things are said. A lot of factors are being weighed. A lot of new and constantly changing data is being disbursed.

Lately, during this process it has felt as though I (we) all have been transported to some other planet or reality. I keep thinking that this will be a time in history that we will probably all remember the rest of our lives. So, as I move through this process I keep looking for something to grab hold of and be able to continue to live in faith.

One of the things that I have learned is that the overload of information that is presented on a moment-by- moment basis is helpful, but very frustrating. I often don’t know what to trust. What is real and accurate? . . . What is fake? . . . What is true? . . . What is a lie? .. . What is meant to help? . . . What is meant to control? Then I am, along with all of that, confronted with my own feelings and emotions that play into the situation. I have my own preferences. I have my own emotional reactions. I have my own bias at times.

The Spirt of God keeps leading me back to two things. The first one I wrote about last month. God does not change. I can depend on that. The second is that His Word stands forever as indicated by the theme passage from Isaiah. I know that His word is always accurate. It is always true. It is always meant to help. It always brings confidence to my troubled heart, mind and spirit.

I love the way Psalm 33:11 puts it, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.”

I hope that these unchanging truths about an unchanging God and the power of His word brings you peace and calm.

God Be Praised! Pastor Tommy
